STEM competition rewards girls for their innovative ideas

Science and engineering education nonprofit Iridescent holds an annual competition in which middle- and high-school girls compete for a $10,000 prize. This year's challenge was to develop a mobile application that solves a local community problem. The winning team from New York City created an app that allows students to check into school using their smartphones.
