Baltimore schools face austere times due to deficit

As a result of a $58 million deficit, the Baltimore school system next year will experience larger class sizes, scaled-back mentoring programs and delayed purchases of textbooks. Many parents and educational advocates want to reduce the short-term pain of the cuts by paying back the deficit over a longer time.
