Beef producer questions USDA's BSE test plan

As the U.S. Department of Agriculture prepares to undertake a one-time, intensive test of at least 220,000 cows nationwide for BSE, one company that wants to test its own herd says it will continue to fight a government ban on private testing. Creekstone Farms constructed a $500,000 lab to test its product, 30% of which used to be exported to Japan before that country banned imports of U.S. beef. The lab sits idle while the company appeals the USDA decision.
