CVS enters Southern California drugstore war

CVS says service will be key as it takes on Rite Aid, Sav-on and Walgreens when it re-enters the Southern California market it abandoned 12 years ago. Although pharmacy sales still make up more than half of drugstore revenue, customers increasingly are expecting one-stop shopping; consumables such as food items and beauty products are the industry's fastest-growing category, according to an industry group.
