Vouchers give one D.C. family a shot at private school

Thanks to a new federal voucher program, the four Hammond children in Southeast Washington are attending the private Nannie Helen Burroughs School, where tuition runs $4,500 a year. Even though the children's schedule means their mother must spend four hours a day on buses, she says the school's small classes, enthusiastic teachers and orderly climate make the grueling schedule worth it.
