EPA: Rules on toxic chemicals likely to change

The U.S. will likely enact a law on toxic chemicals that is compatible with laws in the EU and other countries with major economies, said Lisa Jackson, the head of the EPA, at an international conference. Safety testing is required for most products on the market in the EU, while the U.S. law did not require testing of chemicals already on the market when it was enacted in 1976.
