Hearings for Julius Genachowski, President Barack Obama's nominee to be chairman of the commission, are set to get under way. Mignon Clyburn, a utilities regulator from South Carolina, is set to take up the vacant Democratic seat, while former Commerce Department official Meredith Attwell Baker is reportedly going to be nominated for the vacant Republican seat. Current GOP commissioner Robert McDowell is expected to be renominated.
