Analysis: "Green gloom" is probably being overdone

Supporters of renewable energy are troubled by falling share prices of green companies, but executives of U.S. renewable-energy firms aren't worried about the sector's long-term prospects, according to The Economist. Investment in renewable energy stands a good chance of reaching an all-time high next year, although much of the money won't end up in big companies tracked by the Renewable Energy Industrial Index, the magazine notes. Investment in solar or wind power is down from its peak from before the recession, but capital is flowing into cellulosic biofuel, geothermal energy and electric cars.
