Foam producer equips plant with polystyrene-foam recycling mechanism

Dart Container, a manufacturer of polystyrene foodservice products, is installing wash-and-dry equipment in a California plant to be able to recycle post-consumer foam products. The plant already recycles 20,000 pounds of PS foam a month, and the refitting efforts will enable the facility to process 250,000 pounds of dirty materials per month. The move is part of Dart's effort to send a message that "foam packaging can be recycled," a company executive said.
