Minnesota pilot program uses arts to teach core subjects

Students in 10 Minnesota schools are learning core academic subjects using the arts through a pilot program known as the Perpich Arts Integration Project. For example, sculpting can become part of math lessons, and music can be included in history class, giving students "new ways to grasp processes and learn," according to Sue Mackert, executive director of the Perpich Center for Arts Education.
