Port Authority budget woes stymie Bayonne Bridge plans

New Jersey's Bayonne Bridge is too low to accommodate the super-sized container ships that will be arriving from Asia once the Panama Canal expansion is complete. Proposals to raise the bridge's height by 65 feet or replace it altogether for $1.3 billion are under consideration, but the Port Authority -- which owns the bridge -- is running short on cash.
