Report: Best practices, standards are not common in EHRs

An Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality report found that many electronic health record systems lack standards and best practices relating to health care use and that vendors find usability assessments to be costly and time-consuming to apply during the product development phase. AHRQ recommendations include supporting an independent body to devise standards and developing EHR deployment customization best practices.
