Equipment makers add monitoring as companies seek fuel efficiency

Companies increasingly are remotely monitoring how workers use heavy construction and manufacturing machinery. They want to ensure trucks and machines are not idling during a lunch break or being used for small jobs. The goal is to save fuel costs. In response to demand, Komatsu, Caterpillar and other equipment makers are installing GPS technology and wireless monitoring on more products.
