Schedule delays to raise cost of Ga.'s $14B Vogtle reactor project

Nearly eight months behind schedule, Southern Co.'s Vogtle nuclear construction project in Georgia could face further delays due to a design problem and improper rebar installation. The concrete pour for the project will be postponed for three months, according to William Jacobs, an independent construction monitor assigned to the project. A schedule delay could raise the cost of the project, Jacobs noted.
