SEC approves "limit-up/limit-down" initiative

The Securities and Exchange Commission approved measures to curtail market volatility. The SEC said its "limit-up/limit-down" initiative, which prevents trades from taking place outside a specified price band, will replace single-stock circuit breakers. The agency also supported broadening circuit breakers that were introduced after the 1987 market crash.
