Amazon blends video and retail for Mattel cartoon

Mattel's popular "Fireman Sam" cartoon is coming to Amazon via a "content hub" that will offer consumers the opportunity to watch episodes and buy related toys and goods, in a combination of Amazon's video-streaming and retail businesses. The setup "allows Amazon to transition from a place that simply fulfills consumer demand to one that also creates consumer demand," said Sid Mathur of Mattel unit HIT Entertainment.
