Investors punish firms that break faith on boardroom diversity

Companies are coming under increasing pressure to boost boardroom diversity, but some firms aren't making good on their pledges to bring more minority and female directors on board. That's leading some big institutional investors to punish firms they perceive as going back on their word or dragging their feet. "Shareholders don’t appreciate broken promises," warns Amy Borrus, deputy director of the Council of Institutional Investors.
