Opinion: NCLB promotes outdated "learning factories"

In an editorial, educational consultant Hugh Osborn and Margaret Gayle, executive director of the American Association for Gifted Children, argue that the back-to-basics approach encouraged by NCLB results in uninspired, factory-style learning that fails to engage children's interest. To revitalize education, they suggest schools take more field trips, build learning communities and harness the power of information technology.
