Moscow mayor condemns LGBT activists, not attackers

Calling LGBT activists' wish to honor the grave of the unknown warrior in Moscow a "contamination" and a "desecration," Yuri Luzhkov, the city's powerful mayor, said the incidents of violence around last weekend's unsanctioned gay pride march were provoked by the activists. But participants claimed victory in even being able to stage the protest, which was banned by the mayor.
