Privacy experts warn that medical record theft can result in significant charges from health care services, which also may result in changes in a patient's records at hospitals, pharmacies and physician offices. "Victims of medical identity theft may receive the wrong medical treatment, find their health insurance exhausted, and could become uninsurable for both life and health insurance coverage," one expert said.
