Preemie stroke survivors left with only mild impairment

A study in Pediatrics found most preterm infants who have a periventricular hemorrhagic infarction have only mild functional impairment later on, with IQ scores averaging just a few points lower than preterm infants who did not have PVHI. Researchers said study data showed 76% of PVHI survivors developed cerebral palsy, but most had only limited functional impairment.
