Telemedicine program helps children control diabetes

Children with Type 1 diabetes who participated in a school-based telemedicine program had reduced levels of blood glucose and fewer hospital visits. The program included a monthly videoconference with the child, school nurse and a nurse practitioner from a diabetes center during which measurements of blood glucose and other information were reviewed.
