Verizon Wireless will deploy Java ME to open up app store

Verizon Wireless will build its app market on the Java ME language and provide third-party developers with the proprietary information they need to write applications for subscribers, according to CEO Lowell McAdam, who said the carrier would initially market to smartphone users before expanding the service to all of its 80 million customers.
