Four Seasons begins to skimp on certain details

To cut costs, Four Seasons Hotels & Resorts is cutting back on such luxury touches as huge vases of fresh flowers and shuttering high-end restaurants on slow days. Some of the properties also are outsourcing laundry. While the company was able to ride out economic downturns in the past without changing its practices, this recession has proved to be different, with at least a dozen hotels out of the brand's 82 properties in financial distress.
