Hotel Minneapolis sold; buyer plans conversion to Marriott Autograph

In the second sale of a hotel in downtown Minneapolis in just more than a week, HEI Hotels & Resorts says it has bought a majority equity interest in the 222-room Hotel Minneapolis and plans to convert it to Marriott's new Autograph Collection brand. The hotel, which was affiliated with Hilton's Doubletree brand, was owned by Hempel Properties, and records indicate the company was behind on its taxes. Minneapolis' largest hotel, the Hilton Minneapolis, was sold last week to DiamondRock Hospitality for $155.5 million.
