Lawmakers to focus reform debate on banks' risk-taking

A House-Senate conference is poised to reconcile the different versions of the regulatory-reform legislation, and lawmakers will focus on the risk-taking of the nation's banks. Scott Talbott, senior vice president for government affairs at The Financial Services Roundtable, said that the group supported roughly 80% of the legislation and that much of what the group opposed was up for debate. "About half of the 20 percent is still on the table for discussion and, depending on which way the conferees go, could move the needle one way or the other," Mr. Talbott said.
