Obama challenges provision of Arizona immigration law

President Barack Obama has asked the Supreme Court to intervene on behalf of the federal government, as the administration attempts to challenge Arizona's recent immmigration law. The law, which penalizes employers who knowingly hire undocumented workers, disrupts the balance established by federal immigration policy adopted in 1986, the administration says. Meanwhile, the Massachusetts Senate has approved an immigration bill that, among other things, would create a hotline for residents to report suspected undocumented workers.
