U.S. manufacturing beats forecast, while construction increases

May marked the 10th month in a row of growth in the U.S. manufacturing sector, according to the Institute for Supply Management, and the rate of expansion was greater than expected by economists. In April, construction activity increased the most in almost 10 years, and nonresidential construction posted its first improvement since March 2009.
