Workers battle brown goo to save Jefferson Memorial

A seawall protecting the Jefferson Memorial in Washington, D.C., is sinking into the brown goo that lies beneath the Mall's manicured surface. The original piles supporting the wall weren't long enough to reach solid bedrock, engineers say, and new foundations will need to be drilled to support the landmark's protective wall.
