Report: Construction spending rose slightly in April

Construction spending improved in April, rising 0.4% after a 0.1% gain in March, according to the Commerce Department. The growth came from an increase in spending on home improvement projects. "We're looking for some recovery from the very weak numbers at the start of the year," said Jim O'Sullivan, chief economist at MF Global.
