Tornado aftermath puts livestock animals in peril

The tornadoes that devastated Joplin, Mo., in recent weeks could continue to put livestock animals at risk. Damaged enclosures mean animals can stray, and scattered metal debris in their grazing areas can cause injury. Livestock expert Eldon Cole recommends equipping animals with ear tags or other identification methods as well as providing portable shades for the animals to graze in cases where sheltering trees may have been uprooted by the storms.
