Companies boost retention efforts amid improving job market

Some employers say they're offering more generous compensation in order to retain talent as the economy improves. "It's deflating if you lose somebody because you thought you could save a dollar or two on them," said Steve Barone, CEO of Creative Breakthroughs. A survey by Harris Interactive found that 58% of employers plan to hire this year.
