Tough drones to brave the worst weather for data retrieval

A drone that penetrates violent storm cells to feed data back to weather monitors is being developed at Oklahoma State University. The Kevlar-reinforced aircraft will be equipped with gauges to measure all the relevant data -- including humidity, pressure and temperature -- at the most hazardous points in a developing storm. "Technology has really been catching up to what we wanted to do," said Jamey Jacob, a professor at OSU's School of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering.
