Upcoming clearing deadline prompts securities industry concerns

Experts in the securities industry are raising concerns about how a clearing mandate starting June 10 will affect the securitization market if trades with special-purpose vehicles are not exempt from the rules. "Looking at the big picture, whether this starts in June isn't the only issue, because there will likely also be requirements for margin on uncleared swaps," said Chris Killian, managing director at SIFMA's securitization group.
