Decline in parallel trade expected by drug companies

Executives of major drug companies anticipate a decline in parallel trade, the practice of shipping drugs from low-price markets to Europe, where they account for 5% of all EU drug sales. Roche Holding chief Franz Humer said indications of an improvement are "more positive and optimistic," while Sanofi-Aventis chairman Jean-Francois Dehecq predicted parallel trade "will decrease this year."
