Cancer survivor wins CEC award for academics

Sixth-grader Alex Segbers, 12, has endured three brain surgeries and several weeks of radiation to treat a brain tumor, yet has still excelled academically. Alex won both a CEC Yes I Can! award and local recognition from the Central Ohio Special Education Regional Resource Center. "He never felt sorry for himself. ... I think he just feels very fortunate and blessed," said Alex's mother, Debbie Segbers.
