Consumer group calls for ban on certain food colorings

The Center for Science in the Public Interest is petitioning the FDA to ban the use of certain artificial food colorings, saying the additives are linked to hyperactivity and behavior issues in some children. GMA's Chief Science Officer Robert Brackett, however, says scientific evidence proves the food dyes are safe: "Based on these findings, there is no need for consumers to alter their purchasing and eating habits. They and their children can safely enjoy food products containing these food colors."
