Paterson's marriage support put to test in Harlem

New York Gov. David Paterson's decision to have the state recognize out-of-state marriages of same-sex couples drew equal parts positive and negative reactions in Harlem, where many view Paterson as a kind of "native son," according to this article. "It's the same as civil rights," said Sharon McPherson. "You can't say something's wrong with being gay. It's like saying something's wrong with being black."
