Can hotels cut staff without compromising service?

The recession's effect on hotel staffing was among topics hashed out at New York University's International Hospitality Industry Investment Conference. Strategic Hotels CEO Laurence Geller described losing 15% to 20% of labor, with up to a third of those likely to be permanent losses, and hotel managers are asked to chime in about how they've cut payroll while maintaining a high level of service.
