Cher files breach-of-contract lawsuit against UMG

Cher has filed a $5 million breach-of-contract lawsuit against Universal Music Group, alleging the label from 2000 to 2003 "engaged in wrongful tactics" by failing to pay sufficient royalties to her and heirs of her late ex-husband Sonny Bono for two successful greatest hits recordings. "The claims are meritless and we are confident that we will prevail in court," UMG spokesman Peter Lofrumento said.
