Lending data indicate quantitative easing has little impact

Data show that lending to "private nonfinancial corporations" and households in the U.K. dropped in April. The fall indicates that the Bank of England's quantitative easing has done little. "These figures are the clearest indication yet that the bank's aggressive quantitative-easing policy did not have much immediate impact on broad money and credit growth," said Colin Ellis, economist at Daiwa Securities.
