States compete for $13B in federal funds for high-speed rail

Several states are competing for $13 billion in federal funds for high-speed rail projects. The Transportation Department will release guidelines for applying for the funds on June 17, according to Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood. Meanwhile, Vice President Joe Biden met with state transportation officials and governors on Wednesday to discuss the future of high-speed rail.
