Vienna's Karmeliterviertel, known as the Carmelite Quarter, once was a bustling district teeming with Jewish life. Over the years, the quarter was neglected and took on a seedy atmosphere. But during the past decade or so, the area has been revived and is now one of the few places around the globe where Orthodox Jews and bohemians stroll alongside one another.
