Don't listen to the venture capitalists who argue that entrepreneurs should forgo a salary in favor of "sweat equity," writes turnaround consultant George Cloutier. He suggests a salary of 3% to 4% of revenue is reasonable -- and indicative of a strong business. "The inability to pay yourself is symptomatic of a much deeper financial problem," he writes.
