FAA orders stepped-up safety inspections of Embraer aircraft

The FAA has ordered U.S. regional carriers flying various Embraer 135, 145, 170 and 190 model aircraft to step up inspections of the Brazilian-made jetliners in the wake of structural tests indicating that safety could be compromised due to certain cracks in the aircraft's fuselage. The safety directives, issued on Tuesday, follow previous efforts by FAA inspection proposals and by Brazilian regulators.
