Influx of residents raises drug errors at teaching hospitals

Thousands of new medical residents begin training programs in July, which correlates with a 10% increase in fatal medication errors at these teaching hospitals, U.S. researchers reported. Data showed the so-called "July Effect" was limited to drug errors and not to other types of medical mistakes or causes of death.
