Medical schools promote art to understand patient care

A number of medical schools in the U.S. publish literary magazines and artistic journals that encourage students, doctors, nurses and patients to express their feelings through painting, writing, photography and other artistic endeavors. Through art, they are able to communicate their pain, frustration and other complex emotions and help them better relate to one another on a human rather than a scientific level.
