Milwaukee hospital gets $325,000 grant for green roof

The Milwaukee Metropolitan Sewerage District provided a $325,000 grant to install a second green roof at the new Columbia St. Mary's Hospital Milwaukee. The MMSD says the roof will help lower energy costs, reduce the urban heat island effect and extend the life of the roof. The initial hospital design includes a 6,000-square-foot green roof area above the atrium. The second 12,400-square-foot green roof will be located above the middle section of the hospital.
