Charitable giving of complex assets gains currency

According to Fidelity's 2012 Charitable Advice & Giving study, 34% of wealthy individuals hold most of their net worth in assets other than cash or equities, such as private company stock or real estate. Karla D'Alleva Valas, a managing director of the Complex Asset Group for Fidelity Charitable, sees this as an opportunity to encourage clients to use these complex assets for philanthropic giving, getting more money to worthy organizations at a lower cost.
