Don't fear the fat in a nutrient-packed avocado, dietitian says

Americans' fear of fat led to the rise of fat-free foods, which have not reduced obesity, and a recent shift in focus on reducing consumption of specific types of fat known to harm health, registered dietitian Bonnie Taub-Dix writes. More than 75% of the fat in a heart-healthy avocado is unsaturated, and the nutrient-packed fruit can be used on sandwiches or in baking instead of other fats, such as butter.
